What is Swing
What is Swing? Ask 10 swing dancers, get 10 answers. For the sake of this website, "Swing" is one of a series of dances that can be performed to Jazz, "Swing Music," Rock, or Blues. This includes:
- East Coast Swing
- Jitterbug
- Jive
- Lindy-Hop (AKA "Lindy")
- Balboa/Shag
- Charleston
- "Blues dancing"
Blues dancing is not generally recognized as Swing per se, but it's a lot of fun and has some basis in Lindy.
I do not include West Coast Swing here for the simple reason that I don't know enough to talk intelligently about it. All I know is that it's performed to Country music and looks like a whole lot of fun.
Why "KillerSwing"
Why did you name the site "KillerSwing"? Two reasons:
- It sounds cool and gives some impression of how much fun swing is
- I wanted to make a swing website and"KillerSwing.com" was still available in March of 2001.
